For the 2008 competition, composers were asked to submit new compositions of 10 - 15 minutes duration for shakuhachi with string quartet and guitar, in any combination.

A different instrumentation will be specified for the next competition.

The shakuhachi can be of any length but the use of 'standard' lengths may be wise. Please visit resources for further information.
